The Oneida County Sheriff's Office issues personal photo identification cards to individuals.

Identification cards are available for persons over the age of twelve.  Cards for persons under the age of 21 are clearly marked "UNDER 21."  The Personal Identification Card shows an individual's: photo, signature, address, height, eye color, sex and date of birth.

The identification cards issued by the Sheriff's Office are recognized as proof of identity by most Oneida County businesses and agencies, including the Oneida County Airport and the airports in Syracuse, Albany and Rochester.

The identification cards are not acceptable proof of identity when applying for a license or permit at the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles.  By law, the cards are not acceptable proof of age for the purchase of alcoholic beverages, though in reality many county establishments accept the Sheriff's Office identification cards more readily than college or out of state identification.
