According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on March 28th, 2024, Deputies responded to the Oneida County Correctional Facility located at 6075 Judd Rd in the Town of Whitestown for a report of Jail Contraband.

Prior to deputies arrival, Khalila Bender-Baker of Syracuse was visiting an inmate at the Jail. Bender-Baker was observed by Correctional Officers hugging an inmate she was visiting. Bender-Baker was observed by Correctional Officers placing an object into the inmate's jumpsuit. Correctional Officers witnessed this and took Bender-Baker and the inmate into custody. Officers were able to locate the object inside the inmate's jumpsuit and secured it, inside was a bag with a green leafy substance.

Bender-Baker was arrested and charged with Promoting Prison Contraband in the 2nd Degree. There are also pending charges against the inmate involved. Bender-Baker was processed and released with an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Whitestown Court on a later date.
