According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol, On March 20, 2024, at about 1256 AM, deputies responded to State Route 26 in the Town of Lee for a reported single car Motor Vehicle accident.

Deputies spoke with the driver, Nicholas R. Northrup (35) of Boonville, who operated a Black 2008 Chevrolet Silverado North on Route 26. After the investigation, it was determined that Northrup was traveling on Route 26 when he came upon two horses in the roadway. Northrup swerved to avoid the horses, subsequently exited the roadway, and collided with a utility pole. Northrup's vehicle was damaged during the collision. Northrup was transported by AmCare to Rome Memorial Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted on the scene by members from the Lee Center Fire Department, Lake Delta Fire Department, and AmCare Ambulance.

State Route 26 between Weaver Road and Converse Road was closed for a period of time while crews repaired the utility pole, but has since been reopened.
